Why a Canister Vacuum Cleaner Is Preferred By Most Users

Canister Vacuum

Vacuum cleaners are home cleaning appliances that employ the use of an air pump which creates a partial vacuum that sucks up dirt and dust from floors or any other surface. These machines are an essential appliance for each and every home and choosing the type, for instance, a canister vacuum cleaner, that suits your needs can be more challenging when compared to deciding if you really need one.

Major Parts Of A Canister Vacuum Cleaner

Modern canister vacuum cleaners are made up of hundreds if not thousands of parts that are moving or stationery, but luckily, most of these parts could be grouped together to form major parts primarily according to their functions and mode of operation. Below is a list of some of these parts

1. The Powerhead or Beater Bar

This is an attachment that is designed in such a way that it improves the performance of a vacuum cleaner especially while cleaning upholstery or carpets. They are usually bought separately from the canister vacuum in the case where you own a carpet. The little extra cost of purchasing this unit is worth it.

Features Of The Powerhead:

Though some of these features may vary from one unit to another, they still remain standard in most units, and here are some of the main features:-

  • A low profile which enables you access areas which are hard to reach such as under the furniture. A slender side which allows for easy access to small spaces
  • Some even come with a built-in light
  • An adjustable power for different types of carpets or rugs. Thicker carpets usually require a high power adjustment as compared to thinner carpets
  • You can also adjust the level of some of these powerheads according to the height of your carpet
  • Mini powerheads are designed with smaller brushes and a notable reduced power output which makes them ideal for cleaning small areas, upholstery, vehicles, cushioned steps, and vehicles.

Mode Of Operation Of The Powerhead:

This unit operates by having its turbine or motor rotate in such a way that it lifts the fibers of a carpet thus making the dust, grit, dirt, lint, animal fur, lint, gravel and so on, come loose thus easy to vacuum them into the dirt or bag receptacle.

Without this unit, it’s easy to see how most of these particles will remain embedded in the carpet. In conclusion, the powerhead plays a major role in enhancing carpet cleaning.

How to Maintain and Take Care of Your Powerhead:

  • The bearing of the brushes is susceptible to wearing out and seizing due to threads, hair, strings and lint being trapped at its end. These should be removed on a regular basis.
  • Check your powerhead regularly, preferably each month, for the buildup of dirt and debris
  • You should be careful especially while cleaning near loose threads, blinds, shoe laces, small particles or carpet fringes as they can be caught in the brushes of the powerhead. In case this happens, the canister vacuum cleaner should be shut off immediately and the foreign matter that got stuck in the brushes should also be removed.
  • In case you need to replace worn out parts and pieces, always refer to the manufacturers manual so as to get the correct size and part which needs replacement.

2. Hard Floor Powerbar/Powerhead

With the design of power bars in the past, the emphasis was placed in the cleaning of carpets only but with today’s increase in the popularity of bare floors, a majority of manufacturers have resorted to designing bare floor power bars. The bare floor power bar has a similar design to that of a carpet power bar but the only difference is that it is gentler, smaller and better suited for hard floors.

Types Of Vacuums Currently Available In The Market:

There are quite a number of vacuum cleaners in the market today and it can become quite a daunting task in understanding how each of these vacuum cleaners operates and at the same time how to safely and efficiently operate these machines. The different vacuum cleaners include the hand-held, robotic, stick and sweepers, upright and most importantly the canister vacuum cleaner.

Canister Vacuum Cleaner Explained:

A canister vacuum cleaner is a type of vacuum cleaner that has its motor and suction head separated into two different pieces. This is one of its major advantages as it allows for the suction head to be light thus easy to maneuver while vacuuming.

The Compact and light weight nature of these vacuum cleaners make them ideal for moving up and down the staircases since the bulk of the vacuum’s weight is in the canister. The head of this cleaner is quite light, with a motor included or not, as compared to the other vacuum cleaners which make it quite easy to push along floors or carpets of varying thickness.

Since the head is the only part of this cleaner that has to move, it’s easy to understand why the canister vacuum can go where the other types of vacuums can’t go.

Most experts agree that this vacuum cleaner is the most functional and practical cleaner for both bare and carpeted floors. Its performance is exceptional while cleaning carpets especially if its canister unit happens to have a power bar attached to it.

Furthermore, when you no longer need to use this cleaner, you can neatly and easily pack it in a relatively small closet or storage area without worrying about space, and with today’s design of most canister vacuums that come with a retractable cord, the grueling job of wrapping the extra long cord that usually comes with most cleaners around the unit before storage is now a thing of the past.

You can easily own a canister vacuum for as little as one hundred dollars for a couple hundred dollars more, depending on the design or manufacturer you decide to buy from. The different models that are available might also come with features and technologies such as air purification. different enhancements infiltration.

  1. Bcz bag makes more dust, especially when you try to clean it. And its brutal to clean it. Also if i've sucked some spiders or roaches - i certainly will not give them any chances to crawl into those wrinkles of a bag and wait for their hour...anyway, bag-less vacuum - musthave.
